Need some music help, readers....

Ok, I suppose it's all part of "being a mother", but if I sing the "Wonder Pets" theme song ONE. MORE. TIME. I'm going to lose it.

Or "Loco Legs" by the Fresh Beat Band. At least that one has a beat unlike the Wonder Pets. I mean... REALLY. Since when do kids songs no longer rhyme at all? This Wonder Pets show is like a really bad musical:

(singing in a rythmless way) "A baby seal is in trouble!"

"This is serious!"

"We need to help him!"

"Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets we're on our way! To help a baby seal and save the day! We're not too big and we're not too tough but if we work together we've got the right stuff! Yay Wonder Pets YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY".

Normally I would be all about an animal rescue show for kids. But I can't take the theme song anymore. I really can't. Help.

So I need some suggestions on music that BOTH Charlie and I will enjoy listening to. When we were at the family reunion, my cousin had a CD of U2 songs that had been turned into lullabies... It was actually quite cool. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" turned into a gentle tune. Who would have thought that would turn out actually great? Well, it did.
That kind of thing. Or something peppy, but not ridiculously saccharine.

Thoughts?

We listen to kids' music all of the time! Our favs are Dan Zanes, Tom Chapin, Brady Rymer, Justin Roberts, and any of the Child's Collection of series (blues, showtunes, etc.) There is also a great Ethiopian kid's music CD, but I'm blanking on the name right now.

I've been using this:

when playing with Celeste, there is enough variety that I don't find myself singing the same stuff mindlessly over and over again.

They Might Be Giants has an adorable CD for kids. I think it's called "No". I don't mind listening to it now, and we don't even have kids yet!

Here's some:
They Might Be Giants: Here Come the ABC's
They Might Be Giants: Here Come the 123's

I like Ella Jenkins - she's pretty mellow but she's got a nice voice and kids seem to really like her.

Dan Zanes! Laurie Berkner is great, and I like Sweet Honey on the Rock, too.

And whatever music you personally like. I know all the American jazz classics because of the music played in my home growing up. Your daughter is not too young for Louis Armstrong.

Mr. Ray. Before becoming a Kids musician, used to play with Meat Loaf & at the Stone Pony.

I second Dan Zanes and They Might Be Giants. Lauri Berkner a bit happy for me. There's a series called Music for Aardvarks?(David Weinstone http://www.memphisaardvarks.com/memphis.htm) That's cute, too. He has a song about being grumpy that I really like."If you want to be a grump well that's ok,/ but could you be a grump a little further away?/ It's not that I don't love you cuz you know I do; / Sometimes I'm grumpy, too." danicuz
