African names

I love the sound of some African city names.....

Kinshasa

Mombasa

Ouagadougou

Lubumbashi

Djbouti

Abidjan

Tripoli

Addis Ababa

Tombouctou

Marrakesh

Don't they sound so much richer and more exotic than, say, Detroit.

Springfield

Lansing

Newark

Here are some pictures to go with the African cities.... a little color in my day....

Marrakesh:

Tombouctou:

Mombasa:

Assine Beach (Abidjan... We actually used to go here frequently when living in the Ivory Coast)

Djbouti:

Ouagadougou:

Kinshasa:

Dakar:

Don't these pictures just make you want to..... rush out to the mall and Home Depot and Friendly's??

Granted, the US has soem pretty terrible city names, expecially in the area of the country you chose your names from, BUT there are cool names as well.
I've always loved the sound of these names and no, they don't make me want to go to home depot. They make me want to go on a an adventure, ride down a river, lay on the sand..
Cudjoe Key
Homosassa Springs
Longboat Key
Apalachicola
(all in florida)
And what about names like Sonoma, Taos or Savanah? Great names.
I think you're just pinning for your "home" or maybe just to be away. Or maybe you're getting bored with Asheville?
